Twenty-five years after her not too pleasant departure, Madison Monroe returns to her once palatial North Carolina home for her father's funeral, assuming she will briefly reunite with family, then return home to Kansas City. It is a good book good twists in the plot.
I want to say a few words about the book Unsuspecting Prey. What a good read! I love books set in the Deep South and all that goes with that lifestyle and traditions. Margie Myers gives us a look into how sometimes things are not always as they seem in these parts! You won't be dissapointed! I'm waiting for the sequel!
After meeting the author I knew I just had to read this book! A great story told with precise language, vivid descriptions, and enough intrigue to keep me reading. I truly enjoyed being able to read a suspense novel without being made privy to gory details and unbelievably twisted and evil characters. Ms. Myers has woven a tale which alludes to the evil perpetrated by the archenemy with just enough detail to leave it up to the reader's imagination as to it's true horrific reality.
It started with a promising storyline, but the writing seemed juvenile at times. At the point where the plot was building, the ending just sort of happened. I went back thinking I had missed some pages, but unfortunately, I had not.
The book started out quite well then it proceeded to jump around. One minute the main character is telling the doctor that her brother wants to kill someone and the next chapter she is going to the police with a locket showing her father had another family. It was not consistent at all and I am disappointed in the hurried ending.
Unsuspecting Prey by Margie Myers is a super, fun and thrilling read. Ms. Myers paints a vivid picture of life in a small town in North Carolina with characters that you are sure to love and cheer for. There are more than enough thilling, chilling moments to keep you reading with the lights on. And just when you think you have the mystery all figured out…. BAM… a twist or two is thrown your way. Read it and recommend it to your friends. You will be glad you did.
